Kevin Milan
Kevin Milan
Kevin Milan serves as a Captain with South Metro Fire Rescue (CO), and past Training Chief for the Golden (CO) fire department. He is a 20 year fire service veteran. Kevin is a graduate of the NFA Executive Fire Officer Program; holds a Master of Science in Executive Fire Service Leadership and is a PhD candidate at Oklahoma State University. He is currently President of the Colorado Training Officers Association, State Advocate for the NFFF, Western Regional Representative of ISFSI, and recipient of NFA outstanding research awards in 2005 and 2006. Steve Pegram
Steve Pegram
Steve Pegram has been the Director-At-Large for the ISFSI since 2007 and is the host of ISFSI’s Podcast “The VOICE” on Fire Engineering.com. Chief Pegram was born and raised in Brooklyn NY, however he started his fire service career in the suburbs of Philadelphia Pennsylvania while still in high school. After high school, Chief Pegram moved to New Jersey where he attended college and served as fire inspector for Princeton, NJ as well as Fire Chief in Pennington, NJ. In 1997, Chef Pegram moved to Mason, OH where he was the Deputy Fire Chief until October 2000. From 2000-2007, Chief Pegram served as the Training Officer and Shift Commander for the Loveland Symmes FD in Loveland, OH and from 2007–2009, he served as the Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Xenia, Ohio. Currently, Chief Pegram is the Chief of Fire and EMS in Goshen Township near Cincinnati Ohio.

Chief Pegram has an Associated Degree in Fire Science and is currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Fire Administration from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelors Degree in Organizational Management from Wilberforce University. Chief Pegram is a 1998 graduate of the National Fire Service Staff and Command School and has completed multiple courses through the National Fire Academy. Chief Pegram serves on the editorial board for Fire Rescue Magazine and has published more than 20 articles pertaining to fire service operations. Contact the Committee Chair for more information.

Mary Sovick
Mary Sovick
Mary Sovick is a retired firefighter from South Metro (Denver) Fire & Rescue, the owner of Fireline Training & Consulting, and developer of Ignite Your Writing training seminars. Since leaving South Metro in 1996, Mary has focused her professional interest on elevating writing standards and writing skills in the fire service as well as other agencies.

Mary is an adjunct instructor for the National Fire Academy and for the Fire and Emergency Services Administration program at Colorado State University. She has presented her Ignite Your Writing seminars to a large number of fire departments, community colleges, and fire academies across the country. Her professional memberships include but are not limited to the following: ISFSI Technical Review Committee, Colorado Fire Training Officers Association, and the American Society of Training and Development.

Mary holds a Masters Degree in Education with a focus on Adult Education and Training from Colorado State University. She also earned a master's level certificate in technical communications from the University of Denver. Her professional services include presenting Ignite Your Writing seminars, speaking at regional and national conferences, providing program development services, editing various fire department projects and emergency operational plans, teaching adult instruction workshops, and consulting with fire departments for development and evaluation of written components of promotional exams and assessment centers.
