Training Beyond Hooks & Hoses

When:  Nov 16, 2018 from 08:30 to 09:30 (ET)
Training is the backbone of the fire service, essential to keeping firefighters safe at emergency scenes and ensuring crews operate efficiently and effectively. Most departments do a fairly good job training on tactics. But too many fire departments have a critical vulnerability in their training programs—they are not training on department policies.

In this session, we will highlight the importance of training on organizational policies. We’ll explore how the failure to train on policy exposes fire departments to risk, and how policy training enhances compliance and firefighter safety. Attendees will learn how to make policy training interesting and effective.

Presented by: Bruce Bjorge, Fire Training Coordinator with Lexipol and Battalion Chief with Western Taney County Fire Protection District in Branson, MO

You’ll learn:
•The difference between policies, standard operating procedures/guidelines, and standing orders
•Different policy training methods
