The Netherlands Way: A Different Perspective of Fire Education

Track: Instructor Development Conference

Session Number: 37
Date: Fri, Sep 28th, 2018
Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Description:

The Dutch fire service consists of approximately 28,000 firefighters working in 25 auction areas. Of those 28,000 firefighters, 70% are volunteer in the Netherlands; however, all firefighters receive the same education no matter where they are located or if they are career or volunteer. In this presentation I will explore how we train our people through an electronic learning environment (ELO) and what our different tactics are in structural and aircraft firefighting, the use of high pressure and G-RSTV (similar to SLICE-RS). This class will provide an insight into the Netherlands fire brigade and the royal Netherlands air force fire brigade.
